Page 3: Driving to Zion (04/18/2003)

On the second day of the Las Vegas Trip, Bill and I had originally planned to take a $99 (each) bus trip to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas. At the last minute we decided to rent a car instead of taking a bus to give us more freedom. Armed with local advice, a map, and a rental car for 2 days at $17 dollars a day our journey began. First we would see Zion National Park in southwestern Utah. We stopped at a local grocery store and loaded the car with food, water reserves, and gas; then hit the road at about 10:30 AM. We drove NE along I-15 through colorful canyons, and the towns of Mesquite, NV; Littlefield, AZ; and Saint George, UT. In the town of Hurricane, we exited the interstate and followed Highway-9 to Zion National Park. The total trip time took about 4 hours. Below are photos from this leg of the trip trough local red canyons.
