Day 7 (07/20/2001) Utah/Colorado Trip
Paul J. Lossner
We started the morning early leaving Golden, Colorado to begin our journey
back towards the west. We grabbed I-70 for an exciting trip back through
the Rocky Mountains and passing the Continental Divide at Vail Pass with an
elevation of 10,666 feet and passing through four tunnels along the trip.
This path took us through the ski towns of Vail, Eagle, Gypsum, and Gleenwood
Springs. Once in the town of Rifle we exited I-70 for lunch at KFC and then
continued our trip North along Highway 13 to the town of Meeker where we
proceeded West along Highway 64 through Rangely and Dinosaur where we caught
US-40 West and crossed back into Utah. We stopped briefly for a tour of the
Dinosaur National Monument then we continued westward along US-40 through Vernal,
Roosevelt, and Herber City, where we finally stopped for night in Park City, Utah.
