Where’s Paul Been? That’s the question. Sorry about the long time since the last update. Like
all the rest of the “30 somethings”, I have been working hard then resting up to work hard again.
I currently am working for Cam Connections where I have been promoted to the Atlanta Region
Project Manager and am over seeing the upgrade of a local retail store’s surveillance system.
By the time all is done, I will have upgraded all stores in this chain to the latest technology. This
job is a lot of fun, and I am constantly on the move; one week in Tennessee, the next week home,
and then the Next Weekend in Florida. For someone that loves to travel, it’s a great gig. On the
personal side, I am occasionally getting together with friends, and as always dreaming up the
next great trip, hopefully out west. Maybe the Pacific Northwest, Northern California, or Chicago,
who knows but its great to dream…. Paul

Look for a new (old but ignored) radio format coming to a town near you. I have been a fan of
Dance, Electronic, Techno music for several years now, and it appears that a comeback may be
forming in the broadcast radio industry. Some of the music originates in Europe, but the format
also contains 80s Dance hits from Artists such as Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, and Depeche Mode
along with dance remixes of current Top-40 and Alternative hits. Many thought the format was
dead when Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City all lost their dedicated dance format stations,
but a comeback looks to be brewing. Until now the only way to hear this format was to listen online,
or through Satellite Radio (Sirius channels 36 & 33 and XM channels 80 or 81), but now look for
radio stations using names such as “Energy”, “Beat”, “Party” or “Groovin” XX.X FM. “Energy” and
“Party” formats seem to be more Euro-Dance, while the “Groovin” formats may contain more 80s or
Urban music. Now there are exceptions to these rules however, for example here in Atlanta for
years “955 the Beat” plays rap. If you’re sick of the current music on the radio, as I am call your
local stations and suggest a Party/Energy/Groovin format.

Wednesday, May 31, 2006,
I have officially accepted a new job with a company called Cam Connections out of Florida. I will
be the Atlanta Region Service Tech and cover the states of Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and
Tennessee. I will be issued a company truck along with all the tools and parts needed to get the job
done. This job sounds really exciting and will take me many locations although it may require an occasional
overnight stay; I like to travel. My contact info however will remain the same. Thanks for all your support
in my job search.
UPDATE: I am having a ball on this job. I travel the above listing states doing CCTV repairs at retail stores. I work for a very kind, professional and well organized boss. All the owners are very friendly and welcomed me very well at the yearly company picnic, where I was on the winning team at the volleyball competition. This company goes well out of its way to concentrate on benefits, safety, and of course customer service.

"Toto I don't beleive we are in Georgia No More!"
Look at what turned up on a billboard in Highway 5 (Canton Road) in North Cobb County. These signs have been flooded everywhere! Does this mean we all get
a chance to vote this one out of office, oh well too bad. This billboard was erected to encourage voters who moved into Georgia, after the Hurricane Katrina migration
into Georgia after that massive devistation.
UPDATE 5/21/06 - What Happened??!? Thank God I live in Georgia and the evacuees can’t vote here yet!

To honor the Teacher of each year, the County along with the City of Marietta,
carve a marble handprint to match each teacher’s hand print for permanent display on the

Sunday, August 7, 2005: TRASH THOSE ATM DEBIT CARDS!!!!
ITS YOUR MONEY!!! About three weeks ago, payday is coming, but I need gas before payday. I log onto my credit unions webpage
to check my daily updated balance. I have $60 plus dollars in the bank. I know a bill is still outstanding for $15 from when I wrote
checks two weeks before so I know only to get $15 in gas, to allow for $5 dollars for two meals over the next two days.
This is the same practice which I have repeated for years, but something different happened this time!!

Wednesday, May 11, 2005: Atlanta Radio format Merry Go Round Continues:
The format wheels has flipped AGAIN at 105.3 FM in Atlanta (Bowden).
First, WWVA "Viva 105.3" has moved to the WLCL 105.7 frequency out of Canton (SweatMT) as "Viva 105.7". WBZY
"967 the Buzz" has moved from its very weak signal in Peachtree City, Georgia to a much stronger signal out of the
105.3 transmission facility in Bowdon, Georgia as "1053 the Buzz". This allows the Buzz Alternative/Rock format to better cover most
of metro Atlanta, and allows for a more equal competition against WNNX "99-x". The only real losers in this
move is the already displaced oldies listeners which have already moved from "Fox 97" to the "Cool 105.7" WLCL
a couple of years ago. For them Sunny 100.1 is a stretch to the North out of Ellijay, GA but may be possible. Currently questions still remain on what the 96.7 Peachtree City frequency will broadcast, although rumors float
that they will also simulcast the Spainish Viva Format to the South Metro area. Mayby Clear Channel will be wise and
introduce Atlanta to a new format such as a Party Dance station like XM's BPM or Energy927/101.1 out of Arizona.

Tuesday, November 2, 2004, I've Voted!!
I arrived at the polling location at 6:25 AM, but half the parking lot was closed off for repairs, so there was
no parking left. Luckily I only live three block from the church which is where I am assigned to vote, so I returned home, only
to jog back to get in line by 6:40 AM. Once the voting started at 7:00 AM the line slowly moved forward and I was through the line and
all voted by 8 AM. One hour to vote is about what I expected. Outside of the lack of parking, the voting went smoothly, so GET OUT AND VOTE,
the polls here are open till 7 PM. Click on my picture blog on the right to see the 2 photos of the line..

Is Mt. Saint Helens in Washington state about to erupt???. According to news media and scientists, it just
might. Currently the peak is rising about 1 inch a day, and 3-4 earthquakes occur each minute from the shifting
mantle inside. There is a posibility of a small or medium size event in the future. The latest prediction, a
70% chance of a small eruption in the next 2 weeks. Maybe an eruption may happen. Here are some links:

Another Hurrican in Atlanta!!!
Hurricane Jean passes by Atlanta, Georgia. Some power outages due to falling trees, and soaked soils, most of
the damage in NW Atlanta due to flooding. As of 9:30 PM, my rain gauge reports 2.25 inches of rainfall since 9:00 AM.
Thursday, September 16, 2004:
Hurricane Ivan passes by Atlanta, Georgia. Some power outages due to falling trees, and 40+ mile per hour
winds, but the main story is rainfall. As of 9:30 PM, my rain gauge reports 4 inches of rainfall since 9:00 AM.
Thursday, September 16, 2004: The format wheels has flipped AGAIN at 105.3 FM in Atlanta (Bowden). Like earlier predicted when the format originaly was released, the FM-Talk format on WMAX (REAL RADIO 105.3) did not last very long. The new format is Spanish Top 40 as WWVA "VIVA 105.3". This format is probably a wise choice for Clear Channel since Atlanta has a large and increasing Hispanic population. This is part of Clear Channel's new Hispanic Service Commitment which was released today. The station has a rather strong signal which reaches most of Metro Atlanta and reaches to Dalton, GA to the North.
The FM-talk format failed years ago with another Clear Channel station on 105.7 which is now Oldies to fill the gap left by Fox-97. The 105.3 FM frequency started as "105.3 the 80's Channel" then switched to FM-Talk as "Real Radio-105.3" in February. I listened several times, and the only good program aired was a simulcast of WGST AM-640's Kimmer Show. The other talent on the show was not funny or interesting. I would not be suprised if this format sticks for a while. Finally Clear Channel may have made a wise choice for the 105.3 Channel.
Wednesday, September 15, 2004:
Hurricane Ivan about to strike Pensacola, FL; Mobile, AL; or New Orleans, LA. Listen to Storm Details on WWL AM-870 out of New Orleans, LA on the
evenings of 9/15-16-17 during the nights for local conditions during clear-channel hours. Later listen to details from
Atlanta, GA on WSB on AM-750 on 9/16-17-18 as Ivan tracks north to Atlanta/Birmingham Area as the hurricane is expected to continue
northwest towards Birmingham and Chattannoga. Also for those of you who have XM-radio, Channel 247 is broadcasting hurricane Ivan information
even if you don't subscribe to XM radio, but have the equipment in your car. You however must be a subscriber to listen to
details from Atlanta on XM Channel 227, Atlanta's Traffic & Weather Channel. I am buttoning down the hatches and am going to have the radios on.
Monday, August 16, 2004: WKLS 96.1 or "96-Rock" tweaks its format to become Atlanta's new Classic Rock Station. Before this 96-Rock played both modern rock with a small mix of some classic rock picks.
Friday, July 23, 2004: Z-93 and Classic Rock gone from Atlanta, Georgia. I will have to say this format change took me by surprise. WZGC has changed from classic rock to a wide mix of 80s, 90s and current rock as "92.9 Dave FM." A couple of years ago Z-93 and move in "Mix 105.7" together competed for the classic rock listeners. Z-93 leaning more towards classic rock and Mix-105.7 leaning slightly more towards Adult-Album Alternative. Once Mix-105.7 switched to "Cool 105.7" as an oldies station when that format was abandoned by WFOX for Urban/Rap as "97-Jams", I figured Z-93 would be fairly safe and alone in the Classic Rock format, but they decided to make a switch anyway.
I expected format changes from WMAX "Real-Radio 105.3", WFOX "97.1-Jams" or WWWQ "Q-100.5", whose ratings sit near the bottom but Z-93 was not expected, because its niche listeners and middle rating points. I will have to say I like the station so far, and have already changed my presets in the car. Now just give Atlanta a Party Dance and true Adult-Album Alternative station and Atlanta's radio will be great! Here is Dave FM's Website: www.929davefm.com

Sunday, April 12, 2004: Regular Guys are Out at 96-Rock. 96-Rock's Larry and Eric have been fired by Clear Channel in another act of airwaves cleanup following the Janet/Justin Television incident and FCC threatened fines. Yes, some items on the Regular Guys show may be offensive to some, even some things offended me, a “shock-talker”, but I had the option to change the channel to something else. While not all items may be in good taste, they were still somewhat funny. Talk radio is no more offensive than the dialogue carried in R&B rap music carried by four other Atlanta stations. Rap music contains lyrics that describe sex, rape, and violence and is marketed to a younger audience than most listeners of the Regular Guys. To me I see a complete double standard. One solution!! Howard Stern, Regular Guy, and Opie and Anthony should all go to XM Satellite Radio and be available to all. Then there should be no limit for the FCC to be able to establish. Just like is the case with cable. I already listen to satellite radio, commercial radio is a very corrupt monopoly which picks a few titles marketed by record companies, cleans up the lyrics, and airs them over and over again hundreds of times. Should you like the music, go buy the title on CD and the song is sometimes totally different, usually with many F-words added for extra enjoyment. Statistically children buy a large amount of these CDs, so who is really protected??? Unless your kids listen to Disney Radio or one of the Religious stations and go only to private church-based school and never turn on Cable TV, I guarantee they hear worse topics at school from friends or on TV from MTV, HBO, Showtime, ect. Lets all place all of this in true prospective!! For feedback on this disscussion you can voice your opinion on Cox's AccessAtlanta's Website so check everyones stance on this latest media control issue.

I now have unlimited nights & weekends and 400 anytime minutes, much better than the 30 anytime minutes I had on the old plan.
Friday, Feb 13, 2004: Found a great all-dance professional sounding radio station online with a 128/kbps bitstream. Energy 98.1 is said to be out of St. Louis, but all the info points to the west coast. I think it is a webcaster, but there is a 98.1 broadcast station in St. Louis so maybe it switched formats and is voicetracking. The audio quality is better than FM radio and equals XM-radio, so if you have a fast connection and want dance in your town give it a listen.
Monday, Feb 02, 2004: Just as was predicted last week: 105.3 the 80s Channel in Atlanta is now RealRadio with an all talk format. This idea already failed with WGST 105.7 out of Canton/Atlanta with the same company just years ago. Why can't it switch to all dance or Adult Album Alternative.
Wednesday, January 07, 2004: Just thought I would let all of my family and friends know: Today I was promoted at HobbytownUSA from an entry-level cashier to the Category 900 department manager. This department covers everything from Thomas & Brio Wooden Trains, puzzles, crafts, to Science and Electrical Kits. This is a large and growing department in the world's largest hobby store and I will be negotiating with many different venders. A second part of this promotion will be me establishing an ebay corporate sales site where I will sell overstocks through eBay bidding auctions. This will be an exciting promotion and will definitely keep me busy for a while!

Santa and our family took good car of both. Both got Karaoke machines to sing along with
music (that became embarrassing moment for me later), dinosaur flashlights, magnetic fish
tanks, earmuffs, books and cloths. My niece also received Groovy Girls dolls and a little
pony, pony (which helped my sister go to a ‘happy’ place during my karaoke number). My
nephew also received a Darda Friction Car loop set, and an Internet connection so he could
“learn” off the nick, blues clues, cartoon network and other kids oriented websites that
have been set up by companies.
Hope You all had the Best Holidays!!

Thursday, June 26, 2003: Recording Industry What You Should Know!!..
The Recording Industry has announced taking drastic steps to curb MP3 and Movies
piracy on the Internet using Peer-Peer Networks!! Kazaa and other peep-peer
groups have just been ordered to reveal the identity of all downloaders, so the
RIAA can individually sue each one of us who have downloaded music. I am not
sure how practical this truly is, but all who download music or movies are at
risk of legal action. First let me make one point: I am a member of the Rhapsody
Music service which I pay $24.99 a quarter to have the ability to preview, download and legally burn music onto a Audio CDR
for 79 cents a song, but my rant is because of the very limited amount of music which is
licensed for legal per-song sales. All of this legal action could have been avoided
if record companies would have supported 99cent downloads by the song (like is limitedly offered by
Rhapsody or Apple's iTunes) but they just

Tuesday, April 29, 2003: At 5 A.M. eight states were rocked by a 4.9 earthquake located
near Fort Payne, AL. I was asleep when I awoke to my bed rising by a couple of inches
along with hearing a faint roaring, grating sound.. To me it lasted a couple of seconds,
but it was later confirmed that it lasted for about 15-20 seconds, so I must have slept
through most of the event. The Georgia Mountains experience 2.0 earthquakes every couple
of years, but this being the second moderate earthquake in or near Georgia within 6 weeks,
and a just noted 3.7 minor earthquake in Blytheville, AR raises the question of whether the New Madrid Fault
along the Mississippi River area may be becoming active?? I will start keeping an eye on daily earthquakes..
