Memphis Road Trip - Segment Six (08/14/2005)
We have now entered our third and final day of the Memphis Trip. Let me catch you up a bit. After leaving Mud Island Park & Museum, we
went on a venture to find a motel room. This was a problem because of the Elvis week festivities. So we finally located a room in West
Memphis, Arkansas, just west of the I-24/I-55 Arkansas merge. After a brief rest, we took a drive for luck to Tunica, Mississippi where
we tried our luck in three casinos. Don’t worry; I have a rule no more than $20 per place; if I am meant to win this infinitely increases my
odds over not playing at all. Ha-Ha. After a couple of hours and the 90 minute round trip drive we head back to the motel for the night. Sunday
morning, we checked out of the motel and headed for Beale Street. Beale Street is where the blues was born and still lives on to this day, and is
one of Memphis’s most famous landmarks. Beale Street offers many hot entertainment spots; you can dance to the bands that play in the open of
Handy Park, or mingle in the many night clubs and shops that line Beale Street. The final two photos were taken at the Blues Street Police Museum,
which contains lots of police memorabilia. After the visit to Beale Street, I packed into the car for a five hour journey back to Atlanta via US-78
(Future Interstate-22). Hope you have enjoyed this tour and be sure to check out all the tours now and in the future.
