Memphis Road Trip - Segment Four (08/13/2005)
Mud Island Park - Memphis, TN

Personally, this next destination was the most exciting for me: Mud Island. I remember coming here as a kid years ago in awe. An actual concrete working model of the Mississippi River built on a mud/silt island created by the Mississippi in the middle of the Mississippi River. All 3,900 miles and communities along the old Miss are represented in scale in this park complete with flowing water. To me (a train scenery nut) this is just plain cool. The first photos on this page are of the Downtown Memphis area taken from the parking deck. Next photos of the Mud Island Bridge connecting the Island to the Mainland and then finally some photos of both the fake model and actual river are displayed, then closing with the Memphis skyline from the “Gulf of Mexico.” This is one cool place..
