Downtown Cleveland, OH:
We arrived in Cleveland, Ohio at around dusk, and then we drove around the streets a little. I
have always heard that Cleveland is an absolutely awful place to visit and live. There were
some bad areas, but in the bad areas, the people were very friendly. At no time did I feel
uneasy or unsafe even in the bad neighborhood just outside the downtown district. While the
city was in a state of decline and old: the downtown area was very nice and worth visiting.
The climate was also cool, very refreshing from the warmer, muggy air of the south. The hotel
we stayed in was a bit odd. All the windows in the hotel room opened up, so one could hang
out the window and take pictures or more. From there we went to the Lake Erie waterfront where
the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, a Science Museum, a Ship and Stadium are all located within steps
of one another. The downtown area was small, but very clean and well maintained. Very
Impressed! From there we hit Interstate 77 south towards Akron, Ohio (hey I have driven on
I-77 in Columbia, SC) where we obtained lunch then headed west to catch I-71 southwest back
towards Columbus on track to Cincinnati. Don’t leave Cleveland off your travel list.
