Chattanooga Day Trip
(Third Stop: Chattanooga Aquarium)

Chattanooga, TN Aqarium:
From Ruby Falls we headed off Lookout Mountain to Downtown Chattanooga to park the car in a parking deck near the Tennessee Aquarium. We ate lunch at a good brewery restaurant (even though neither drank the food was good). After lunch we walked around the Aquarium Grounds and the adjacent Tennessee River Waterfront before getting in line to purchase tickets. I have been to the aquarium a few years ago, but since then a second aquarium building had been built to extend the aquarium experience. It takes 2-3 hours to tour both buildings, but the aquarium visit was great. I have been to the Georgia Aquarium which was very crowded and the Chicago Aquarium which was very old and not good, but the Tennessee Aquarium still holds its own as a great Aquarium Experience. An IMAX Theatre is also on the campus to add enjoyment. The Tennessee Aquarium takes you on a journey from the Cove Forest Zones in the Appellation Mountains, to the Tennessee River System and to the Coral Reef Zones in the Gulf of Mexico. Great exhibits which drew attention were the very active River Otter and Penguin Exhibits. Another new Butterfly Atrium Exhibit was added to the new building. Just make sure a Butterfly does not escape on your back! My favorite aqua life was the Seahorses and Amoebas. Enjoy this underwater tour!
