Chattanooga Day Trip
(Second Stop: Ruby Falls)

Ruby Falls (near Chattanooga, TN):
When you ask someone what to see in Chattanooga they say Rock City and Ruby Falls. So that is where we are heading next. Being only five minutes apart on Lookout Mountain (although at a lower elevation) this makes things very easy. For over 75 year Ruby Falls has been a wonder of amazement. Being the largest known underground waterfall system, Ruby falls offers visitors an awesome view, not to mention a little cave genealogy along with the tour. The tour starts on Lookout Mountain, where an elevator will take you down over 1,000 feet into the Ruby Falls Cave. Once off the elevator an underground paved walkway will take you ½ mile into the cave where you will see stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and drapery cave formations. Some formation look like common items to make it more interesting. The you will wallk back another ½ mile back to the elevator. The cave weather is a constant 58 Degrees year round (so dress warm if cold bothers you) with heavy showers near the waterfall (Ha Ha!). This is a fun site to see, however purchase both Rock City and Ruby Falls tickets and others together to save money.
