Hotel Jerome - Aspen, Colorado
Page 4: April 5, 2008

Limping back to the car from the Ski Adventure, all of us were starved and could not wait for a restaurant. So to get the carbohydrates and fat back, McDonalds was calling. From there Bill and his girlfriend stayed in Vail and Patrick and I headed to Aspen, Colorado to venture into the first Haunted Hotel he selected in this adventure. When Pat revealed the $260 a night price tag I was expecting luxury. That was exactly why Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado delivered. When traveling, we get either two rooms (when it is time to burn Hilton Honors Points), or two double beds, or sometimes fight over the rollaway in single bed room or suite, but this roll away bed was truly different. This room was a suite with the very comfortable rollaway in the living room and a King Bed in the Bed Room. Two flat panel TVs prevented the arguing on what to watch on television and in this room mine was put to good use. I have now logged about 10-15 haunted hotel rooms in these so called haunted hotels and have only had two incidents which were strange. While staying in a hotel in New Orleans, LA I suddenly awoke when a “ghost” was violently shaking a floor lamp. Once awake, I realized it was only a dream; there were no floor lamps in the room only desk lamps. My mistake... But this experience still seems weird to me. In this high class room, the hotel places a floor mat next to each bed for you to park your slippers and shoes on while in bed (see picture). But my mat seemed to always be moving around. One time Pat did it as a joke, but it kept occurring. Eleven times to count exactly. I would fix it and it would again get out of whack. Several times this occurred while I was the only one in the room. Needless to say I left the TV on all night long. Who knows the staff may have something up their sleeves with that prank, but it is the only weird unexplainable thing yet.

That night, I was truly dead after skiing on muscles that I did not know even existed. The hotel had a outdoor whirlpool, which I parked in for a couple of hours. When I got up the leave, I had to sweep away the two inches of snow that fell while I was in the whirlpool. What a feeling sitting in a hot tube while there is a truly peaceful snow fall. Great Hotel Pick!
