AZ, UT, NM Road Trip
(Day Four: July 30,2007 - Page 24)
El Malpais National Monument, NM:
In the West Central Region of New Mexico, just off I-40 lays the El Malpais National Monument.
The name El Malpais means badlands and this definitely would be a harsh environment. In this
National Park Lava flows, Cinder Cones and Lava Tubes demonstrate the harsh reality of nature
in this region of the country. Many Prehistoric Ruins, Animal, Plants, Rock structures and
ancient remains cover this area, however because of time limitations, we did not venture off
the main road into the hiking trails.
