AZ, UT, NM Road Trip
(Day One: July 27,2007 - Page 2)

Montezuma Castle Ruins, AZ:

Our first planned stop on this trip was the Montezuma Castle located just off I-17 between Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona. Historians believed that these cliff dwelling ruins were built to serve as an “apartment” building for Sinagua Tribes around the 12th Century. This five story structure is very well preserved about one hundred feet above the ground and is rumored to contain 20 rooms. The structure is a very short walk from the visitor center and is an easy visit for all.
