AZ, UT, NM Road Trip
I along with two friends arrived in Phoenix in the mid morning of July 27, 2007. Once we achieved the rental car, we hit
the road. First passing through the streets of downtown Phoenix where we grabbed an early lunch at an all you could eat
Mexican restaurant on or near Indian Church Road. From there we continued on to the Squaw Peak neighborhoods for
some city and mountain pictures. Belly filled, Phoenix memories rewritten we hit the road heading North on Highway 51,
then heading West on the Pima Freeway (Loop 101), to catch I-17 North out of town. The pictures on this page were taken
in Phoenix, heading north on I-17 and from a rest area. (See Map for all of Day 1's Events, This Page's Route is in Red)
One Special Note: When we all left the all you can eat restaurant while starting the car, we noticed a large amount of
helicopters flying above and Bill commented: “That helicopter is not flying at a normal angel.” Not much was thought
beyond that point. Leaving the restaurant traffic all of a sudden stopped heading Left, so we turned Right. Seconds
later I looked out my rear view mirror and saw a large plum of smoke. Not putting the events together, a news helicopter
had crashed less than a mile away as we were getting in the car. All the copters were following a robbery suspect.
This helicopter crash made national news and we heard news reports of the incident just outside of Phoenix while
flipping radio stations. Scary!
Have Fun!!

Welcome to another Web Tour. This is one of the best and most memorable trips I have ever taken, and a I don’t think I
will every be able to duplicate the awes and wonders seen during this five day four night trip covering the States of
Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. Because of the routed trip, I will again see some favorite areas in Southern Utah again
along with the city of Phoenix, Arizona, which is an awesome launch location for Southwestern Road Trips. I would bore
you in spouting off all of the locations ahead of time, so just follow the web series.
