Day 1 (10/20/2004) 1st stop
PIMA Air & Space Museum: Tucson, Arizona
(Continued)

Here are the photos taken from the bus tour of the "Airplane Graveyard." We boarded the bus at the PIMA Air & Space Museum located in Tucson, Arizona. After the bus was checked briefly by military guards, this is what we got to see. One Note: These photos don't give this place justice both on the size of the facility and of the number of aircraft located in this facility. Most of these planes are preserved there for future use of parts for use on other planes currently in operation. They locally call the graveyard, a Airplane Reclamation Yard because most of these planes will be used again for some use or another eventually. Some few may be re-flown others may be disassembled for part to be sold around the world. Only a few planes are actually completely decommissions and those are destroyed by slicing the fuselage to guarantee no other flight (see the last two photos). Enjoy the photos.
